West village and the Meat Packing

3 Aug

West village and The Meat Packing district are my fav. spots in the city. I can spend hours walking up and down the streets of the village.

20110802-090209.jpg
The west village is the area from the Hudson River on the west to Seventh Avenue on the east, and from 14th Street down to Houston Street.

20110802-090111.jpg
I also enjoy venturing down to the meatpacking and taking a walk on the high line or just people watching. It’s by far the best people watching area!

20110802-090547.jpg
The Meat Packing district is the area from West 14th Street south to Gansevoort Street, and from the Hudson River east to Hudson Street.

LES & East Village

1 Aug

The LES (thats New York for the Lower East Side)

20110801-123157.jpg

is the area South of East Houston St. down to Manhattan Bridge
and East of the Bowery to the water.

20110801-010217.jpg

This area is one of those places where you need to know where to go. It doesn’t always have the best spots and while cool hipsters spend there nights here, they don’t usually spend their days here.
20110801-010954.jpg

You are more likely to walk around exploring all the wonderful things in the East Village and hitting the recommended spots of the LES.
20110801-011006.jpg

The East Village areas run South of 14th St. to East Houston and from about 3rd ave. east to alphabet city.

Here are my top 10 eat.drink.shop .packable. picks for these areas.

This 4th of July I tried my stab at the best packable meals around … The mason jar meal. I made a full spread for my love and I. I started with the main corse black forest ham, Swiss cheese shredded, and a French baguette. Then for sides cheese and crackers and chex mix. I made yogurt parfait for the desert! It was perfect!
